Entering the 2013 edition of the Aaron’s 499 at Talladega Superspeedway, Dale Earnhardt, Jr., driver of the No. 88 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet, has “two” career NASCAR Sprint Cup Series victories in the May classic. As a result of his success at the 2.66-mile facility, and in recognition of him being in position “two” in the title chase after “two” races in 2013, Talladega is offering a special Dale Jr. “Two for $88” ticket package for the upcoming Aaron’s 499 set for Sunday, May 5.
The “Two for $88” Dale Jr. opportunity includes two Anniston Grandstand tickets located in between turn four and the frontstretch Tri-Oval for the Aaron’s 499, and presents a savings of over $50 off race time pricing. The offer is good though Monday, March 18, while seats last.
“Talladega has a lot of history, and I am proud of what I have been able to accomplish there,” said Dale Jr., who is the only driver to ever win four straight Sprint Cup Series races at the superspeedway. “I like the mystique the place has, a lot of great and interesting things happen. It is always fun to go to Talladega because it is such a different kind of track. It is really big and it is a nice change of pace from all the mile and a half stuff we do,” added NASCAR’s most popular driver, who finished second in the season-opening Daytona 500.
“There is no bigger name associated with Talladega than Earnhardt,” said Talladega Superspeedway Chairman Grant Lynch. “This is Earnhardt country – a lot of Earnhardt fans are in our area. Dale Jr. has five wins here, and he learned drafting from one of the best ever – his Dad, Dale Earnhardt, Sr., who won here 10 times. In light of Dale Jr.’s strong start to the season, we are thrilled to give fans of all drivers this special opportunity to witness the most competitive racing in NASCAR.”
And, what does Dale Jr. say about his popularity and connection with Talladega? “When I was able to come into Talladega and win some races, that solidified my position and the Earnhardt family’s legacy there. I have said it throughout my career. I know deep down inside, I owe a great debt and a lot of credit to him (Dale Sr.) for where I am and who I am in the sport,” admitted Dale Jr.
“He was a legend and won a lot of (restrictor) plate races. It was fun to watch him race and he did a lot of fun things for a fan as far as watching a race at Talladega. When I was able to come to Talladega and have some success, I think it sealed the deal for all the Earnhardt fans out there.”
Brad Keselowski hopes to prevent Dale Jr. from getting his sixth Talladega win, and in the process, capture his second consecutive Aarons 499. Keselowski, the Sprint Cup Series champ, will also make an appearance at the Talladega Experience on race morning, Sunday, May 5.
