Brad Keselowski is going to the White House.

This year only the Sprint Cup champion and his team will be making a trip to the White House. In the past, all Chase drivers from the previous year make a trip together to see the President. This year, Brad Keselowski will go as the only driver but he will bring his Penkse Racing team and crew with him.

“Other sports have the privilege to go to the White House and they don’t bring all teams from the Final Four, they bring the championship team, so I think it falls in line with how other sports are treated,” Keselowski told The Charlotte Observer Thursday.

Keselowski also added, “It’s always an honor to have the opportunity to go to the White House. It’s probably more of an honor to go as the championship team.”

Brad Keselowski is known for his out spokenness and willingness to have a good time so there is no doubt that Keselowski and his team will make the most of their experience at the White House.

The new tradition of only having the Sprint Cup champion and team going to the White House is similar to all other major sports. The new change in tradition is a good one for NASCAR and could offer a better understanding for the general sports fan about how many people it really takes to win a champion besides just the driver.

This experience at the White House also gives the chance for people who work all week-long at the race shop, and are typically in the background, to shine in the spotlight.
