California native, James Day, grew up on the pavement of Pomona Raceway, watching his father, Richard Day, race nitro funny cars. Dreaming of following in his father’s footsteps, James became a licensed pilot of not only a nitro funny car, but Top Alcohol Funny Car, Top Alcohol Dragster, Nostalgia Top Fuel, and Nostalgia Fuel Funny Car.

There was never any doubt in James Day’s mind that driving a race car could be in his future.

At 18 years of age, James became a full-time crew member learning to repair and drive the 8,000 horsepower 300-mph machines. Working along side veteran drivers,  Del Worsham and Gary Densham, James moved from a crew member to the pilot of a NHRA nitro funny car and in 2007 he made his debut at the Winter Nationals in Pomona California. The dedicated driver has achieved a life long dream, of becoming a professional race car driver.

Career Highlights
