Restrictor plate races are always wild and unpredictable but one thing was certain at Talladega, Sophomore ARCA Racing Series driver Mason Mitchell is ready to win. Mitchell, driver of the No. 98 Thermal Technology Services Inc. Ford finished in the fourth position in Saturday’s International Motorsports Hall of Fame 200.

“This was the same car we raced at Daytona in February the guys just made some improvements and it was excellent from the time we unloaded off the truck Friday” Mitchell said. “We ran up front all day long and made a run at the win on the last lap with John Wes Townley. I can’t thank him enough for working with me on the final lap. We finished ahead of our competitors for the championship so that’s a win of its own. We’ll take fourth and head to Toledo in two weeks.”

Mitchell started the fourth race of the 2014 ARCA Racing Series season from the second position. After getting shuffled back to sixth on the initial start Mitchell settled in the 5th position on lap 11.

Mitchell would hold on to the 4th position as all of the leaders pitted on lap 36. Crew chief Brad Parrott opted for fuel only sending the 19-year-old back to the track as the leader. Mitchell would hold the lead until lap 43 as Justin Boston and John Wes Townley would maneuver around Mitchell sending him back to third.

The day’s only caution would wave at lap 55 for an incident involving Clay Campbell and Justin Allison right behind Mitchell.

On the final lap Mitchell would move to the outside with John Wes Townley and come across the stripe in the fourth position.

With his fourth place finish at Talladega Mitchell extends his top-ten streak to 14 races in-a-row dating back to last August at Pocono.
