Earning his first victory of the 2018 NASCAR K&N Pro Series West season, Derek Thorn led the powerhouse Bruncati Racing team to sweep the top-three spots at Colorado National Speedway in the NAPA Auto Parts 175 on Saturday night.

“Colorado National has been good to us,” Thorn said. “To have the Sunrise Fords one-two-three tonight, I think that’s a first for us, just really proud of (Ryan) Partridge and (Trevor) Huddleston and all the guys at the shop who work really hard for this.

“To be able to win in front of this full crowd really means a lot.”

In his No. 6 Sunrise Ford, Thorn beat Ryan Partridge in his No. 9 Sunrise Ford to the finish line by 2.752 seconds. It was the second race in a row, Thorn and his teammate finished first and second, as it was Partridge celebrating in victory lane at Orange Show Speedway last month. For the third Sunrise Ford driver, Trevor Huddleston, his third-place finish at Colorado was a career best in his sixth start in the series.

“We are going to enjoy the moment, it’s a long year in the K&N Series. You gotta take every race one race at a time because you never know what’s going to happen. Hopefully, we’re there at the end of the year for a championship” – Thorn said on returning to victory lane.

The Bruncati trio entered the season with the goal of unseating the powerhouse Bill McAnally Racing team who has taken the series title for the past three seasons with Todd Gilliland (2016, 17) and Chris Eggleston (2015). BMR drivers, Derek Kraus and Hailie Deegan round out the top-five finishers in fourth and fifth-place.

Cole Rouse from BMR finished sixth, followed by Kody Vanderwal, Matt Levin, Devin Dodson and Vanessa Robinson rounding out the top-ten.

The victory moves Thorn to the top of the series point standings just two points ahead of Partridge. BMR’s Kraus and Rouse are third and fourth with Vanderwal rounding out the top-five in points. Huddleston, Deegan, Levin, Todd Souza, and Takuma Koga round out the top-ten.

The NAPA Auto Parts 175 at Colorado National Speedway will air on NBCSN on June 14th at 6 pm ET.

The NASCAR K&N Pro Series West returns to action on Saturday, June 23rd for the running of the Carneros 200 at California’s Sonoma Raceway. Fans will remember that Kevin Harvick won this event last season with road course ace Will Rodgers finishing second.
