Roush Fenway Racing’s NASCAR XFINITY Series lineup is full of young talent, with Darrell ‘Bubba’ Wallace Jr. competing for Sunoco Rookie of the Year Honors and second-year drivers Ryan Reed and Chris Buescher posting wins this season. Bolstering their strong lineup is veteran NASCAR driver Elliott Sadler.
Three Wins and Counting
Roush Fenway Racing is making moves in the XFINITY Series 12 races into this season. Ryan Reed with one and Chris Buescher with two, have three victories this season, the most wins for the organization since 2012 when Ricky Stenhouse Jr. with six and Carl Edwards with one, raked in seven victories.
The organization has its entire NASCAR XFINITY Series contingent on the rise with all four drivers in the top-ten point standings. Chris Buescher is the current leader, Darrell Wallace Jr ranks fifth, Elliott Sadler occupies the sixth spot and Ryan Reed mans the eighth position at this point of the season.
Buescher is leading the way.
Chris Buescher won the Buckle Up 200 presented by Click It or Ticket at Dover International Speedway last weekend, extending his points lead to 15 points over second-place Ty Dillon and 37 points over third-place Chase Elliott. Buescher’s series career wins total now stands at three. With a break this weekend for the XFINITY Series, Buescher will enjoy his bolstered points cushion one extra week.
Early success for Buescher has him on track to take the title this season, posting two wins at Iowa and Dover, with six top-fives, eight top-tens and an average finish of 7.5 – the best among series championship contenders.
Ranking in the top-ten in every major season-to-date loop data stats Buescher is making his mark during his sophomore year: His driver rating is fourth-best at 100.2; average running position is fourth-best at 9.005; laps led is sixth-most at 122; number of quality passes is second-most at 576; and percentage on the lead lap is third-best at 94.06%..
With his Dover victory, Buescher also qualifies for the XFINITY Series ‘Dash 4 Cash’ program which resumes at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on July 25. Buescher will win an extra $100,000 if he finishes higher than Chase Elliott, Brendan Gaughan and Regan Smith at Indianapolis.
Expect the Roush Fenway XFINITY Series drivers to continue their rise when they return to action at Michigan next week. The organization leads the series in wins at the two-mile speedway with five – Carl Edwards 2011, 2008; Jeff Burton 1998; Mark Martin 1995, 1993..
Next week, the XFINITY Series is at Michigan International Speedway on Saturday, June 13 with FOX Sports 1 broadcasting the action at 1:30 pm ET.
