Bill McAnally Racing is a powerhouse organization in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West with over 60 victories and six series championship titles, including the 2015 champion, Chris Eggleston. In 2014 team owner, Bill McAnally expanded their operations to include entries in the K&N Pro Series East, becoming the only team to field cars in both series.
Most teams are in the process of building for the 2016 season and breaking news on Fan4Racing Radio Monday, November 23rd, McAnally shared their partial 2016 lineup, telling our crew that returning next year is this year’s champion Eggleston, who was signed for the 2015 season after winning his series début at Colorado National last year. In 13 races this year, Eggleston has earned two wins with one at Irwindale Speedway in April and one at Shasta Speedway in May. Along with those wins are nine top-fives and 11 top-ten finishes contributing to this year’s championship campaign.
McAnally told listeners that joining Eggleston for the 2016 season are Todd Gilliland who won his series debut at the K&N West season finale at Phoenix Raceway and Riley Herbst who earned the Irwindale Speedway 2015 Trucks championship. Also appearing Monday night on Fan4Racing Radio, Gilliland says he is ‘happy’ to be a part of Bill McAnally Racing for the 2016 season.
Todd Gilliland, the son of Sprint Cup Series driver, David Gilliland, made news with his victory at Phoenix. At 15 years, five months, 28 days, Gilliland broke the mark set by Gray Gaulding at 15 years, eight months, 30 days in 2013 as youngest winner in series history. He also marked a family milestone as a third generation driver in the Gilliland family to win in the K&N West as his Grandfather Butch has 13 victories and his father David owns four, including the 2005 race at Phoenix. Earlier in the season, the young Gilliland won in his ARCA Racing Series début at Toledo also becoming their youngest winner in series history. Having turned 15 years old two days before the race, Gilliland became eligible to race on his birthday, also making him the youngest driver to ever compete in the series.
Also a guest on Fan4Racing Radio Monday night, Gilliland was eager to share in breaking the news with our listeners, saying he is ‘happy’ to be with Bill McAnally Racing for the 2016 season.
Riley Herbst, is also a third generation racer who watched his father and grandfather compete in off-road racing classics such as the Baja 500 and 1000. Developing his passion for racing, Herbst started racing Go-Karts at the age of five and in 2007 he transitioned to Trophy Karts. By 2012 Herbst was racing on ovals with Legend Cars and in the 2015 season at Irwindale Speedway he raced the Trucks and Late-Models as part of NASCAR’s Whelen All-American Series. In addition to winning the Irwindale Trucks championship, 16-year-old Herbst also took home the Rookie of the Year title and finished fifth in the late-model series’ point standings.
McAnally, says they’re still putting together the rest of their lineup for next year and expect to make more announcements as soon as arrangements are complete.
