After starting from the pole for Saturday night’s Drivin’ for Linemen 200 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series event at Gateway Motorsports Park, Erik Jones led a race-high 84 laps, but once again experienced misfortunes late in the race, spoiling his effort to collect that elusive first win of the season. Jones was in the runner-up position, chasing down race-leader Matt Crafton, with just under 20 laps remaining when contact with a lap truck resulted in terminal damage to his Special Olympics World Games Tundra and relegated him to a 23rd-place finish. Ross Kenseth said he came to Michigan International Speedway for one thing Friday: “learn to win.” Mission accomplished.

Kenseth, 22, making his third career ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards start, won Friday’s Corrigan Oil  200, winning at the two-mile speedway by 2.1 seconds over Frank Kimmel. Kenseth led 51 laps in taking the win in the No. 52 Federated Auto Parts Chevrolet. He took the lead from Grant Enfinger on lap 87 of the 100 lap race. Continue reading →

Kurt Busch Wins at Michigan when Rain Halts NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Race

Starting 24th in a backup car, Kurt Busch fought his way to the front of the field through intermittent rain showers and won Sunday’s Quicken Loans 400 at Michigan International Speedway when a deluge halted the race after 138 of a scheduled 200 laps.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. was second when NASCAR red-flagged the event for the fourth time. Martin Truex Jr.was third, followed by Matt Kenseth and Penske teammates Joey Logano and Brad Keselowski. Continue reading →
