Aric Almirola stuns the field in clutch win at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in the NASCAR Cup Series Foxwoods Resort Casino 301 on Sunday.
With five races remaining in the regular season, the NASCAR Cup Series raced at New Hampshire Motor Speedway this past weekend. A place that has been titled ‘The Magic Mile’ can become a tricky place to race. A one-mile oval with flat, sweeping corners; New Hampshire Motor Speedway only grants its magic to those who respect it.
If consistency was the metric to determine the NASCAR champion, Aric Almirola would have been firmly in contention last season. During the middle part of the season, the Stewart-Haas Racing driver set career highs in top-five finishes, top-ten finishes, and laps led with a stretch of five consecutive top-five finishes. However, a string of poor finishes and some bad luck at Talladega doomed Almirola in the Round of 12. He was unable to push for a championship.
Almirola, Dillon win Duels at Daytona for NASCAR Cup Series season opener Daytona 500. The Great American Race runs this Sunday, February 14th.
The Bluegreen Vacation Duels at Daytona International Speedway are the first points bearing races of the season. They also set the lineup for the Daytona 500. The finishing positions for Duel 1 set the inside line, and the finishing positions for Duel 2 set the outside line. These duels can become dicey with drivers fighting for a good finish to also have a good starting position for the Daytona 500.
