The Budweiser Duel is a tradition for NASCAR as teams race for their starting sports in the Daytona 500. The Duel event has always been run on Thursday afternoon prior to the Daytona 500, which included two 60 lap races. Things will be different in 2014, with the Budweiser Duel event moving to primetime under the lights. Continue reading

Lowe’s Home Improvement isn’t going anywhere in 2014. Jimmie Johnson has been sponsored by Lowe’s his entire Sprint Cup series career and the company doesn’t look to be going anywhere.

During the Chevrolet SS unveiling at Daytona International Speedway on Saturday, Rick Hendrick, owner of Hendrick Motorsports, was asked about rumors that Lowe’s would not be returning to his organization. Hendrick was adamant that rumors were false and that he is confident Lowe’s will continue to sponsor Jimmie Johnson in 2014.

“I don’t know where (the rumors) came from, but (Lowe’s will) be back. Wishful thinking, maybe, by some of the other folks, but they’ll be back.”

A new deal between Lowe’s and Hendrick Motorsports has not been signed but both sides are confident they will be together in 2014.

“We’ve got a verbal,” Hendrick stated. “We’ll button it up, but it’s early.”

Jimmie Johnson fans, don’t worry, the blue and white colors won’t be changing anytime soon.

Saturday night the NASCAR season unofficially kicked off. Nineteen drivers ran in the Sprint Unlimited as the new Generation Six car made its debut under the lights.

Many people who watched the race came away with mixed reviews. Fans were unsure of the racing they saw on the race track. The new cars look amazing, that is a given. But what about the thing that really matters – the racing? Continue reading

Brad Keselowski, 2012 Sprint Cup champion, may not be in a race car during Saturday’s Sprint Unlimited, but he will be in the Hollywood Hotel along side Chris Myers and Michael Waltrip.

Eligible drivers for the Sprint Unlimited are those with a Sprint Cup pole in 2012 and past Sprint Unlimited winners. Keselowski has neither. So instead of sitting at home Saturday night, Brad Keselowski will watch the race from the famous Hollywood Hotel with FOX’s Chris Myers and Michael Waltrip. Continue reading
