Fairhope, AL native Grant Enfinger found himself in a familiar place at Mobile International speedway – in victory lane.

Enfinger won the ARCA Mobile 200 for the second straight year and once again in dominant fashion. He led 185 laps on the day and even the caution-filled race did not halt his progress. The Daytona ARCA winner pulled away by 1.125 seconds over second place at the finish. Continue reading

The ARCA Racing Series heads to the Mobile International Speedway for the third straight year. The trophy has stayed in the state, as Alabama drivers Cale Gale and Grant Enfinger won the first two events.

Heading into this weekend, Enfinger appears as the hands down favorite. He is coming off a win in the Lucas Oil 200 at Daytona and is looking to make it two-for-two on the season. Enfinger can become the first driver since Jimmy Horton in 1990 to win the first two ARCA events to start the year. His win in 2002 was no easy task, as he had to muscle his way around Jimmy Spencer.  Busch put the bump-and-run on Spencer and pulled away to record his first Cup win of his career.  It started a rivalry between the two, which would last until late in the 2003 season. Continue reading

Jimmie Johnson and his No. 48 team started off the 2006 season amidst controversy.  NASCAR found an illegally adjusted rear window in the car that created an aerodynamic advantage after Daytona 500 qualifying. Chad Knaus, Johnson’s crew chief, was suspended for the first four races and fined $25,000. Chief engineer Darian Grubb took the helm in his absence. Johnson went on to win his first Daytona 500, even though many people questioned the integrity of the win.
