NASCAR Injects New Technology in 2012

In 2012 NASCAR will introduce Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) to the Sprint Cup Series, which will replace the Holley 4 barrel carburetors used for the past 40 years. Although EFI is new to NASCAR, it has been around since 1957 when it first became commercially available. It has been in use for sometime in other high profile motor sports such as IndyCar and Formula 1. In fact, some may have never owned a car with a carburetor. The Checkered Flag Falls For Red Bull

As the checkers fell at the conclusion of the Ford 400 at Homestead, it was a sign of many things including the end of the season, the crowning of a new champion and the end of the road for some drivers and teams.  Some will find themselves with new teams next year, but for others, Homestead was the end of the road.  For one team in particular, Homestead brought closure to a five year stretch, peppered with multiple poles, two wins and a chase berth.
