Since Michael Waltrip Racing announced they were closing their doors back in August, we knew a lot of crew members and other employees would be out of work once the season ended. The organization allowed drivers Clint Bowyer and David Ragan to find rides elsewhere even during the season. So far, Bowyer has signed a one-year deal with HScott Motorsports in 2016 while being the replacement driver in waiting for Tony Stewart in 2017. As of now, Ragan is still looking for a new ride. The Wild West

The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series heads to Las Vegas Motor Speedway this weekend for its first stop on a three-race west coast swing – Sunday’s Kobalt 400. Following Las Vegas, the series moves on to Phoenix and concludes its Pacific trip at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California before heading back east to Martinsville. Phoenix was formerly the second race on the docket, but is now the fourth. Auto Club still occupies its traditional fifth race slot.  Continue reading →

2015 Sprint Unlimited: Who is In and Who is Out?

Lineup changes allow deeper 2014 point standing drivers to become eligible.  

Kicking off the 2015 Sprint Cup Series Season, the Sprint Unlimited features an expanded field of drivers based on new eligibility outlined by NASCAR earlier this year. On February 14th the 75-lap, non-points race airs on FOX at 8 pm ET as well as on MRN Radio and Sirius XM NASCAR Radio.

A minimum of 25 Sprint Cup drivers are eligible for this year’s Sprint Unlimited. In addition to the 2014 Chase for the Sprint Cup drivers, the field includes 2014 Pole Award winners, former Sprint Unlimited race winners and Daytona 500 pole winners who competed in the series full-time in 2014. The remaining spots go to drivers highest in 2014 Sprint Cup driver championship points, not already eligible. Continue reading →
