Here is my preview and fantasy picks for the Sprint Cup Series’ SpongeBob SquarePants 400 at Kansas Speedway on Saturday, May 9th.

Contenders

Joey Logano – Very fast race car and is again on the pole, needs to keep his speed and be able to keep up with the track throughout the race though, which has been his achilles heel all season. 

Jimmie Johnson – Has been relatively streaky so far this yeas but you really can’t count him out, especially on a mile and half race track. With wins at Atlanta and Texas already I think he will be a serious contender tonight.  Continue reading →

Jeff Gordon – The funny thing about Gordon is in both short track races this season he has started off tremendously slow and then slowly inches his way to the front and puts himself in position at the end to win. I suspect he does the same tonight. Continue reading →

Most NASCAR fans were not overly familiar with an 18-year-old kid from Byron, Michigan named Erik Jones before the 2015 NASCAR season, but they are now.

 

Although Jones did post three wins in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series last season and with a recent NASCAR XFINITY Series win at Texas Motor Speedway, I really can’t image that anybody would have seen the tremendous leap he has taken in becoming the potential face of Joe Gibbs Racing’s future

 

Which brings up a question in itself? What does Joe Gibbs Racing/JGR do with a young man as talented as Jones, when the team has four seats filled up with stars in the Sprint Cup Series? Continue reading →
