Derek Thorn overcomes adversity to win with his Campbell Motorsports No. 43 team in the SRL Southwest Tour race at All American Speedway.

Throughout the years, Campbell Motorsports driver Derek Thorn has overcome adversity on the track. By the end of the race, he usually finds his way to victory lane. Thorn has built his resume as a driver who will not allow obstacles to keep him from giving 110 percent, from practice to qualifying, and, of course, the race itself.

In front of a packed house at Kern County Raceway this weekend, local Bakersfield, CA resident, Derek Thorn dominated all 250 laps of the SRL Southwest Touring Series’ Third Annual Winter Showdown, bringing home a $30,000 bonus for the win. After taking the pole in qualifying, Thorn led every lap in the premiĆØre Super Late Model event that included big nameĀ drivers such as NASCAR’s Kyle Busch and Erik Jones as well as the Showdown’s winner the last two years, Bubba Pollard.

Thorn has traveled across the country as far asĀ Pensacola, FL to compete in their Snowball Derby,Ā andĀ other premiĆØre Super Late Model events includingĀ all three years at his home track of Kern County Raceway in the SRL’s Winter Showdown, dreaming of victory. Continue reading
