Suffice it to say there is no lack of chatter when it comes to the stars and cars of NASCAR taking to the Windy City’s most infamous streets amid a holiday weekend filled with tourists and traffic. And when it comes to the course layout, it’s very narrow, tight, and bumpy, and has certainly resulted in some sleepless nights for drivers, crew chiefs, and engineers. Not to mention NASCAR and city officials that have been working tirelessly to ensure this first-of-its-kind event is a success.

The NASCAR Cup Series race at Circuit of the Americas/COTA was one of the best races in a long time, providing good racing action for everyone, The race showcases varying pit strategies, red-hot battles on the track, and drivers having to walk the delicate tightrope between running hard enough to hold position while trying to conserve fuel. Sadly, the entertainment value of the race came undone at the end with a late caution leading to several overtime restarts and chaos.

Tyler Reddick fends off Byron and Busch for his First 23XI Win at COTA on Sunday in the NASCAR Cup Series EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix.

The NASCAR Cup Series went to Austin, Texas to race the first road course of the 2023 campaign. The Circuit of the Americas hosted a 68-lap race featuring former Formula-1 champions Kimi Raikkonen and Jensen Button and IMSA racer Jordan Taylor. The NASCAR Cup Series had some road course competition as these three featured drivers are highly respected in their separate leagues. The influx of drivers from other series made this race fun to watch on Sunday.

Tyler Reddick wins his first 23XI NASCAR Cup Series race at COTA on Sunday in the EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix in Austin, Texas.

AUSTIN, Texas – Tyler Reddick prevailed in three overtime restarts to claim his first trophy of the year – and first with his new team, 23XI Racing, with a 1.411-second victory over two-time series champion Kyle Busch in the EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix – the NASCAR Cup Series’ first road course race of the season.
