James Day Never Doubted his Racing Future

California native, James Day, grew up on the pavement of Pomona Raceway, watching his father, Richard Day, race nitro funny cars. Dreaming of following in his father’s footsteps, James became a licensed pilot of not only a nitro funny car, but Top Alcohol Funny Car, Top Alcohol Dragster, Nostalgia Top Fuel, and Nostalgia Fuel Funny Car.

There was never any doubt in James Day’s mind that driving a race car could be in his future.

‘Hot Rod’ Bob Beck, the Voice of Racing Since 1974

Bob Beck entered the auto industry as did many young men, by working in gas stations when in high school.

In college, Bob major was in Speech and Broadcasting, earning his degree and an Occupational certificate in radio and TV broadcasting. He also attended Columbia School of Broadcasting and was regularly heard on the Kaleidoscope network with his auto show G.A.A.S.(Great American Auto Show) and local cable TV in Bakersfield, CA. on the show Gettin Sideways.  Continue reading

Zac Bogner Takes on the Sport of Drag Racing

At 19 years of age, Zac Bogner has been racing since he was 9 years old. Starting his career in 2006 as a Junior Sand Dragster for his good friend, Brian Fitzpatrick, Bogner says from the beginning he was influenced by the adrenaline rush to keep going and added that he wants to really take on the sport of Drag Racing.

In late 2006, Zac Bogner took the opportunity to drive a Junior Dragster on Asphalt 1/8 mile Drag Strips and really enjoyed going 50 mph in his first time on Asphalt.

Beginning 2007 Zac Bogner received an offer to drive for engine builder Don Soltz, who builds Junior Dragster Engines. In his first race with the team, Zac won, realizing his potential to go far in this sport. Continue reading

Morgan Lucas Taking on 2013 with a New Perspective

This year has brought some big changes for Morgan Lucas, driver of the GEICO/Lucas Oil Top Fuel dragster.

Lucas got married in the off-season and is taking a more active role in the operations of Morgan Lucas Racing in 2013.

“My whole outlook on life has shifted,” Lucas said. “My purpose for being competitive used to solely be on having fun and racing. While I still love racing, I want to win because I do have a family, I want to be a good provider, and I want the business side of the race team to be successful.

“There are a lot of things that go into you wanting to be the best you possibly can be. It’s a new kind of pressure to be under, but if you channel it the right way, pressure can be a great motivator.” Continue reading
