TALLADEGA, Ala. — When Rev Racing driver Nick Sanchez got shuffled out of the lead pack with 11 laps to go in Saturday’s General Tire 200, it appeared his shot at winning at Talladega Superspeedway was over.

NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. – Nicholas Sanchez walked to the Rev Racing transporters in the New Smyrna Speedway infield looking for a bottle of water and a chance to take a deep breath. A huge smile on his face and maybe a little swagger in his step, Sanchez said he was just told he was quickest of the NASCAR Drive for Diversity candidates in their first on-track test session Wednesday morning.

One has to wonder if there’s something about Memphis International Raceway that suits the Drive for Diversity drivers at Rev Racing after earning back-to-back victories with both NASCAR Next drivers Chase Cabre this weekend and with Ruben Garcia Jr last season. This is Chase Cabre’s first career victory in 33 starts with the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East.
