Hemric, Nemechek on Verge of Chase Elimination

Daniel Hemric and John Hunter Nemechek have plenty of work to do to advance in the inaugural NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Chase.

The two drivers are each 15 points below the cutoff line heading into the final race of the Chase’s Round of 8 – Saturday’s Fred’s 250 at Talladega Superspeedway at 1 pm ET on FOX. If they cannot make up the ground at Talladega, they will be dropped from the championship hunt.

Hemric boasts five top-three finishes in his last six starts, including two runner-up showings, but lost ground in the Chase with his 28th-place performance at New Hampshire in that stretch. In his lone start at Talladega last season, he placed 28th. Continue reading

Timothy Peters Holds on for Truck Series Victory in Wild Race at Talladega

Holding off all challengers in a race that went four-wide on the final two laps, Timothy Peters won the Fred’s 250 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race on Saturday at Talladega Superspeedway.

Peters arrived at the finish line .143 seconds ahead of second-place starter and finisher Tayler Malsam. Spencer Gallagher ran third, followed by Tyler Reddick and Ryan Blaney, who trimmed 13th-place finisher Matt Crafton’s lead in the series standings to 17 points with four races left in the season. NASCAR revised its national series qualifying format for Talladega Superspeedway which, in turn, should elevate the on-track competition for fans at the high-speed 2.66-mile track.

For the Oct. 17-19 events at Talladega featuring both the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, national series qualifying will take on a more rapid pace that should bring out the best in the competitors and give fans an extra element of excitement.  Continue reading
