Every racer sets their sights on advancing to the highest level of their sport and for NASCAR K&N East driver, Dominique Van Wieringen, that means racing within NASCAR’s top-three national series. Just wishing to advance one’s career is, of course, not enough. While the three NASCAR national series are off this weekend, the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East will head to South Carolina and Greenville Pickens Speedway. The stars and cars of the K&N East will take to the flat half-mile oval for the third race of the 2016 season. Only eight drivers from last year’s race are on the entry list and there are 11 rookies vying for the Sunoco Rookie of the Year Award.

One of those rookies is Sarah Cornett-Ching, who is competing for the K&N East Rookie of the Year title this season while also running some ARCA Racing Series and CARS Super Late Model Tour events. Continue reading

The No. 5s GALT, Wauters Motorsports team headed west with Dalton Sargeant to Bakersfield, California for the inaugural Winter Showdown from Kern County Raceway and finished in the second position.  The 16-year-old shocked the short track racing community once again by competing like a veteran, but ultimately finishing a mere five-car lengths short of the eventual winner, veteran Bubba Pollard in the 250-lap event.  The second-place finish was Sargeant’s third runner-up finishing position in four events.
