The Monster Mile is a different test for teams and drivers as the concrete surface and steep banking can be treacherous during long runs. With little forgiveness on tire wear, patient drivers often see the most success at Dover.

The Hendrick Motorsports driver took the lead off pit road following his final pit stop with 97 of 400 race laps remaining, held off the field on two more race restarts, and earned his second victory of the year in Sunday’s Drydene 400 NASCAR Cup Series race at Dover (Del.) International Speedway.

Richmond Raceway brings a wrap to the NASCAR Cup Series short track stretch. Richmond is always a tough track even for the best teams in the Cup Series. The 0.75-mile track causes a lot of inconsistencies for teams and drivers. One difference is that the spring race is typically in the afternoon, whereas the fall race is at night. The different times of the season and the time of the day forces drivers to adapt to a change in track temperature, which brings a change in grip level. Every race is a different story at Richmond Raceway.
