Returning to Orange Show Speedway after 38 years, NASCAR K&N Pro Series West drivers will take center stage on Saturday, May 21st as teams take to the track for the first time since September 23, 1978 for the Sunrise Ford 150.
Representing Sunrise Ford Racing this weekend is the latest K&N West winner, Ryan Partridge who won at Tucson Speedway on May 7th and his teammate, Cole Rouse, who is competing for the 2016 Rookie of the Year honors. Partridge is now just four points behind series’ points leader, Todd Gilliland, while Rouse sits fourth in the point standings and six points behind last year’s series’ champion, Chris Eggleston who is third in points. Saturday night at Colorado National Speedway long be remembered by Ryan Partridge as when he earned his first career NASCAR K&N Pro Series West Victory in the NAPA Auto Parts 150.
Earlier in the day, the 25-year-old rookie from Rancho Cucamonga, CA earned his first Coors Light Pole Award, then went on to lead all but one lap in the race. Partridge passed the checkered flag 1.7 seconds in front of second-place Blake Williams, who in his third career start, posted his second top-five finish.
In 2014, Partridge was the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series CA champion, at Irwindale Speedway. Saturday was his 13th start in the K&N West, his first full-time season in the series with owner, Bob Bruncati. In their last outing, Partridge earned his previous best finish as runner-up at Evergreen Speedway. Continue reading →
New NASCAR Next Class Already Making Mark on Track
Five of the six NASCAR K&N Pro Series race winners in 2015 are 21 years old or younger. The championship points leaders in both the East and West are 17 and 16. And a 17-year-old just became the highest-finishing female in the 61-year history of the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West.
It is fitting that as fans celebrate Jeff Gordon’s final year of competition, the ranks of NASCAR is becoming filled with young drivers battling to one day fill that void.
