F4R-XS-News-Notes-TemplateThe NASCAR XFINITY Series teams will return to action in two weeks for the O’Reilly Auto Parts 300 at Texas Motor Speedway. Teams will race 200 laps for 300 miles on Friday, April 8th. FOX Sports 1 will begin their pre-race show at 8 pm ET with the green flag at around 8:30 pm ET. Fans can also listen to the race on PRN or SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, channel 90.

Daniel Suárez Extends Lead in the Point Standings for Third-Straight Week

Daniel Suárez has taken the lead in the NASCAR XFINITY Series championship standings and isn’t looking back. Over the past three races he has extended his points lead from three points to eight to ten over second-place Elliott Sadler. Continue reading

Harvick Needs More Wins to Regain the Sprint Cup Title in 2016

Being a defending Sprint Cup Series champion is never easy.

Once a driver becomes champion, they have a huge target on their back. The wins are harder to come by when the new season begins, and the same strategy from last year doesn’t work this year.

For Kevin Harvick in the 2015 season, he easily could have had more wins. Not because he was in the wrong place at the wrong time, but because he finished second more times than any driver last season. And that is just not rewarding enough. Harvick has 12 second place finishes against three wins and that doesn’t seem to sit well for Harvick as he heads into this season. Continue reading

Gordon Set to Become NASCAR’s All-Time Consecutive Starts Leader

When Jeff Gordon starts his engine in Sunday’s Sylvania 300 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, he will pass Ricky Rudd as the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series consecutive starts leader by beginning his 789th straight race.

NASCAR’s new Iron Man has not missed a start since making his series debut at Atlanta on Nov. 15, 1992 – a span of 22 years, 10 months and 12 days. Continue reading

Setting Himself Apart, Teenage Prodigy Erik Jones Is Sports’ Latest Rising Star 

Young athletes have been the talk of the sports world the last week.

Notably, 21-year-old golf phenom Jordan Spieth won The Masters and 22-year-old NBA All Star Anthony Davis put his New Orleans Pelicans team in contention for a Western Conference Playoff berth. Even 23-year-old baseball player Mike Trout, already a three-time All Star and winner of the 2014 American League MVP award, kicked off his season in the sport in which he is widely recognized as the best player.

And who knows, once Erik Jones hits his early 20s, he might have that kind of stature in his sport.  Continue reading
