Keselowski Takes Advantage of Final Restart for Richmond Victory

All night long it was Brad Keselowski, Kevin Harvick, and Kyle Busch battling up-front. The drivers exchanged the lead multiple times over the course of the race. When it was all said and done, Keselowski emerged victorious. All three drivers held the lead at some point with less than 35 laps to go, but the last pass for the lead Keselowski made with ten laps to go led him to victory. West Coast racing returns this weekend as NASCAR’s Nationwide Series heads out to Auto Club Speedway in Southern California. The drivers will take on the daunting two-mile “D” shaped-oval this weekend after racing at Bristol which is just about the complete opposite type of track. Fans will surely see a different race on Saturday, compared to last weekend since the field will likely spread out all-over the track versus having  bumper-to-bumper racing which we saw at Bristol. The transition between one of the smallest tracks on the circuit to one of the biggest will be a tough animal to tame for the drivers but, it will surely make the racing interesting as the fifth different type of track this season for the new Gen 6 cars. The new crop of Nationwide Series drivers will roll into Las Vegas this weekend to compete in the Sam’s Town 300 at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. After full-time Cup drivers took the first two wins of the season, the new bunch of Nationwide regulars will look to leave Las Vegas with good performances and possibly a victory. The Cup drivers are always hard to beat but, some of these new Nationwide regulars could have a shot at victory this weekend. Big names like Elliot Sadler, Brian Vickers, Justin Allgaier and Sam Hornish Jr. will attempt to have good performances this weekend and re-claim their spots as the Nationwide Series’ best drivers. Nothing was going to keep Kyle Busch out of Victory Lane on Saturday at Phoenix International Raceway.

Not a pit road speeding penalty. Not a spate of cautions that kept bunching the field. Not Brad Keselowski, who in the past has found magic out front on old tires.

The prohibitive favorite in the Dollar General 200—after he won the pole in a laydown earlier in the day—Busch overcame a speeding penalty that dropped him to 22nd position for a restart on Lap 44. Continue reading →
