Greg Biffle‘s season has stalled this summer, as his last top-five finish was a victory in June at Michigan International Speedway. Biffle is also the defending winner of the two-mile track’s August event in 2012. The good news for his team is they are returning to Michigan this weekend, hungry for another victory that could be his third consecutive and fourth overall win at the track.

Ninth in NASCAR‘s Sprint Cup Series standings, Biffle needs a boost as he’s barely hanging on to a provisional Chase berth. He’s just four points ahead of 11th-place Kurt Busch, who is looking for success to secure his place in the Chase. Provisional Wild Card holder Kasey Kahne fell out of the top-ten last Sunday by a late-race accident at Watkins Glen is another marker back in 12th-place and already owns a pair of victories this season. RaceWeekendLogos300x400As the clock keeps ticking toward the 2013 Chase, the time has arrived for speculations on who will be competing for the title and who will be on the outside looking in when the Chase begins at Chicagoland Speedway in September.

Chase Tracker is making its second annual appearance to keep fans informed leading up to, and throughout the heated competition for a Sprint Cup trophy.  Chase Tracker will give a weekly summary including those drivers chasing the two coveted Wild Card spots. Unlike most fan speculations, which are typically based on gut feel and emotion for particular drivers, Chase Tracker will look at current statistics for analysis. Even though it seems the drivers were in Pocono a few weeks ago, it’s time to head back to the tricky triangle for a second go around. June featured another dominant performance by Jimmie Johnson and he is be looking to do the same thing again this weekend after coming so close at Indy last week. The ‘tricks’ Pocono has up its sleeve this weekend could come at any of its three corners. Fans never know what might unfold when the Sprint Cup Series drivers enter the only track with three turns on the circuit, so Sunday’s race will be a good one to watch. Continue reading →
