Rookie Cole Custer Sets Up the XFINITY Series Playoff as One to Watch

Heading into Chicagoland Speedway this weekend, rookie Cole Custer with Stewart Haas Racing wasn’t one to get a lot of attention, but it’s clear Custer is a quick study, soaking up what it takes to race in one of NASCAR’s top-three series. After leading 41 laps of the race, his seventh-place finish at Chicagoland on Saturday afternoon puts him in eighth-place for the first race of the XFINITY Series playoff season.  Continue reading

NASCAR XFINITY Series Virginia529 College Savings 250 at Richmond Preview

NASCAR XFINITY Series teams are gearing up for the Virginia529 College Savings 250 at Richmond Raceway, Friday, September 8th at 7:30 pm ET. Coverage begins on NBC Sports Network at 7 pm ET along with radio coverage on MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.

Drivers will race 187.5 miles over 250 laps with Stage 1 ending on lap 75, Stage 2 on lap 150, and the last Stage ending on the last lap 250. Continue reading

Jeremy Clements Earns Upset Victory at Road America

Journeyman Jeremy Clements and his small team topped big-name race organizations to clinch a first-ever victory in 256 NASCAR XFINITY Series starts.

On the second-to-last lap of the Johnsonville 180 Sunday at Road America, Clements attempted to pass Matt Tifft for the lead. He wheeled his Chevrolet to the inside of Tifft’s Toyota Camry sending both of them spinning. Clements fired his car back up faster than Tifft and seized the lead headed into the final go-around. From there, the 32-year-old XFINITY Series veteran cruised to Victory Lane, finishing 5.802 seconds ahead of runner-up Michael Annett. Continue reading

Hornish Jr. Edges Hemric to Claim First Mid-Ohio Victory

Sam Hornish Jr. dominated Saturday’s NASCAR XFINITY Series Mid-Ohio Challenge, but his victory was anything but certain until the waning laps of a caution-filled race.

Hornish, driving Team Penske’s No. 22 Ford Mustang, earlier had eclipsed his own qualifying record at the 13-turn, 2.258-mile Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, and edged series rookie Daniel Hemric by 1.335 seconds when the event ultimately went green for the final time with five circuits remaining in the 75-lap distance.
