Regan Smith Pulls Last Lap Move for XFINITY Win At Mid-Ohio

What a difference a week makes.

After experiencing pure frustration last weekend at Watkins Glen (NY) International, Regan Smith answered his second road course race of the season with a bump-and-run on leader Alex Tagliani in the second-to-last corner on the last lap to score his first NASCAR XFINITY Series win of the season in Saturday’s Nationwide Children’s Hospital 200 at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.

The short-track-like move ended a 52-race winless streak for Smith driving the No. 7 Chevrolet for JR Motorsports. Continue reading

This weekend the 2015 series points leader returns to defend his win at the 13-Turn course and further extend his standings lead over second-place Chase Elliott (-24) and third-place Ty Dillon (-24).

Just a dozen races remain in the 2014 NASCAR Nationwide Series title race, and the top four drivers have a mere 13 points separating them as they head to Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course for the Nationwide Children’s Hospital 200 on Saturday, Aug. 16. Leading the series’ top tier quartet is Rookie of the Year candidate and JR Motorsports driver Chase Elliott who rests 12 points ahead of his teammate Regan Smith in second-place.Smith stands just one point ahead of third-place Elliott Sadler and fourth-place Ty Dillon;who have the same points total in the series standings.

Allmendinger Cruises to Victory at NNS’ Debut Mid-Ohio Road Course

Saturday’s race was a début for the series at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course and NASCAR fans were ready in the Buckeye State.  Track management said the turnout Saturday was the best for the track so far this season.

AJ Allmendinger spent most of Saturday afternoon in front, then held on for an extra few laps to earn his second career NASCAR Nationwide Series victory in the Nationwide Children’s Hospital 200 at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. Continue reading
