This past Tuesday, Athenian Motorsports driver, John Wes Townley was given medical clearance to return to NASCAR and ARCA Competition and will take part in the Camping World Truck Series and ARCA races at Pocono Raceway this weekend.

For the past four weeks, Townley has received treatment for mild concussion-like symptoms following a couple of collisions with GMS Racing’s Spencer Gallagher at Gateway Motorsports Park in June.  The second crash is what ended the night for both drivers and ignited an on-the-track confrontation and wrestling match. Gallagher later apologized for his part in the incident.

Over the last four weeks, three drivers have stepped into Townley’s seat.

“I’d like to thank Parker Kligerman, Cole Custer and Brady Boswell for filling in for me,” Townley said. “I feel great and I’m looking forward to racing at Pocono this week.”

Watch the ARCA Racing Series, ModSpace 150 on Friday, July 29th at 5:30 pm ET on FOX Sports 1. Then the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, Pocono Mountains 150 on Saturday, July 30th at 1 pm ET, also on FOX Sports 1.
