Roush Fenway Racing Off to a Fast Start

Ryan Reed and Chris Buescher’s performance on NASCAR’s biggest stage was incomparable.  Their 1-2 finish puts the spotlight squarely on the young Roush Fenway Racing drivers as the series heads to Atlanta Motor Speedway.

At 21 years of age, Reed not only has all the attributes of a young superstar, but also the qualities to be an inspiration for young people with health challenges all over the world. Updated Monday, February 9th with more changes…

Lineup changes allow deeper 2014 point standing drivers to become eligible.

Kicking off the 2015 Sprint Cup Series Season, the Sprint Unlimited features an expanded field of drivers based on new eligibility outlined by NASCAR earlier this year. On February 14th the 75-lap, non-points race airs on FOX at 8 pm ET as well as on MRN Radio and Sirius XM NASCAR Radio.

A minimum of 25 Sprint Cup drivers are eligible for this year’s Sprint Unlimited. In addition to the 2014 Chase for the Sprint Cup drivers, the field includes 2014 Pole Award winners, former Sprint Unlimited race winners and Daytona 500 pole winners who competed in the series full-time in 2014. The remaining spots go to drivers highest in 2014 Sprint Cup driver championship points, not already eligible. Continue reading

Pole-sitter, Jeff Gordon took the lead from Logano with 17 laps remaining in the Pure Michigan 400 to take his third win of the season, and regain the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series points lead.

“The last one, I thought he had a good start.  But I had a good one, too,” said Gordon. “I really think what happened to him on that last restart was Kevin was having some trouble getting going.  This is a big, fast place.  There’s a draft there.  My lane moved along as a group.  Even though Joey got out there, he was sort of sitting on an island by himself.  We kind of tracked him down.  I was able to get to his left rear.  When I got to his left rear, drug him back, gave me a ton of momentum.  I was able to get to the bottom and get by him.”

Ten races at ten different tracks, to fill in the remaining six drivers to complete the Chase Grid’s Sweet 16 – who will battle for one prize – the Sprint Cup Series Championship.

That’s a lot of numbers. But there’s only one point: Now is an important time, and for those who are still winless, the points become even more vital. Continue reading
