The No. 2 Team Facing More Penalties

Following the race at Dover Sunday, the No. 2 of Brad Keselowski failed post-race inspection. The car was found too low during the inspection process, after the race. This comes on the heels of crew chief Paul Wolfe’s return to top the pit box after a three-week suspension from penalties at Texas Motor Speedway earlier this year.

Martin Truex Jr. failed post-race inspection earlier this year for his car being too low at Texas and resulted in a six-point penalty. Brad Keselowski’s team could be facing the same penalty. Continue reading

National Stock Car Racing Appeals Panel Statement

On May 1, 2013, the National Stock Car Racing Appeals Panel heard and considered the appeal of the No. 2 and No. 22 Penske Racing NASCAR Sprint Cup Series teams.

The penalties concern Sections 12-1: Actions detrimental to stock car racing; 12-4J: Any determination by NASCAR Officials that race equipment used in the event does not conform to the NASCAR rules detailed in Section 20 of the NASCAR rule book, or has not been approved by NASCAR prior to the event; and 20-12: All suspension systems and components must be approved by NASCAR. Prior to being used in competition, all suspension systems and components must be submitted in a completed form/assembly to the office of the NASCAR competition administrator for consideration of approval and approved by NASCAR. Each such part may thereafter be used until NASCAR determines that such part is no longer eligible. All suspension fasteners and mounting hardware must be made of solid magnetic steel. All front end and rear end suspension mounts with mounting hardware assembled must have single round mounting holes that are the correct size for the fastener being used. All front end and rear end suspension mounts and mounting hardware must not allow movement or realignment of any suspension component beyond component normal rotation or suspension travel. Keselowski Responds to NASCAR Confiscation of Penske Team Car Parts

2012 Sprint Cup champion, Brad Keselowski and his teammate Joey Logano, both Penske racing drivers, had parts confiscated by NASCAR before the Sprint Cup race at Texas Motor Speedway.

In an inspection about an hour before the scheduled start of the race, NASCAR officials required both Keselowski and Logano teams to replace rear-end housing parts around the suspension area of their cars. Leaving team members with a last-minute change to get their cars ready for the impending race. Continue reading
