The NASCAR K&N Pro Series West championship title is about as close as any competition could ever hope with just one race left in their season. Rookie of the Year contender Gracin Raz, with Jefferson Pitts Racing made his presence known with a last lap pass for his first career victory at All-American Speedway in Roseville on Saturday night.

Earning the pole starting spot earlier in the day, Raz would end up vying for his first series victory with another K&N West competitor Alex Shutte, in contention to do the same. It was Raz and Shutte battling their way to the checkered flag on the last lap for first and second-place finishes. Continue reading

International Speedway Corporation today announced a new partnership with DraftKings, a leading daily fantasy sports destination. DraftKings will serve as the ‘Official Daily Fantasy Sports Provider’ of ISC motorsports entertainment facilities.

At ISC facilities across the U.S., tracks will feature DraftKings branding and give on-site opportunities for fan engagement. ISC will communicate DraftKings NASCAR daily fantasy sports games through event-day announcements, broadcast, digital and social channels and through a significant presence on MRN, the nation’s largest independent sports network.  “We sucked.”

Those were the words Denny Hamlin used to explain his day at Phoenix International Raceway this past weekend where he and his Joe Gibbs Racing teammates struggled immensely. Hamlin went on to say,,,

“All of our cars suck right now, there’s Kevin Harvick there’s the Hendrick cars, and the Penske cars and everybody else, we’re (Joe Gibbs Racing) everybody else right now.”

I’m not going to bore you with the details of numbers, comparing the Hendrick and Gibbs cars over the last two years, but I do want to give my insight into what is the problem. Continue reading

No. 18 ARRIS Toyota Camry Team Finishes 11th At Phoenix International Raceway

Daniel Suárez and his No. 18 ARRIS Toyota Camry team found themselves in Avondale, Arizona, for the fourth NASCAR Xfinity Series race weekend of 2015, the Axalta Faster. Tougher. Brighter 200 at Phoenix International Raceway. It was the first event of the new year at a track that Suárez has raced at in the past, recording a top-five and a top-ten in three NASCAR K&N Pro Series West events at the one-mile oval, and one win in two NASCAR Mexico Series starts. As debuts go, place a check in the success column when grading Athenian Motorsports’ driver Dylan Lupton’s first outing in the NASCAR Xfinity Series’ Axalta Faster Tougher Brighter 200 at Phoenix International Raceway.

The 21-year-old standout in the NASCAR K&N West Series admitted to being somewhat nervous on Friday afternoon at Phoenix when he realized he was about to experience a life-long dream by racing on the same track with the likes of Daytona 500 champions Joey Logano, Matt Kenseth and Kevin Harvick.  Continue reading
