Busch Routs Field to Take Second NCWTS Victory of the Season

In the inaugural NASCAR night race at Kansas Speedway, Kyle Busch put on quite the show. He led 104 laps en route to his first career NCWTS win at the track.

He began the race from the pole and led early despite numerous caution periods that occurred in the first 35 laps.

The biggest challenge Busch faced throughout the night came from Brad Keselowski Racing. Joey Logano had a very strong truck, but he could not manage to hold off the No.51 truck for long. Logano’s teammate Ryan Blaney also gave Busch a run for his money on multiple restarts. Continue reading →

Ryan Blaney Ready for Double-Duty at Kansas

Life is about to get a lot busier for the Camping World Truck Series drivers after enjoying their break. And few will be as busy as Ryan Blaney.

After racing only twice so far this season, the 2014 schedule will get hectic over the next couple of weeks. For the first time this season, the series is in action in back-to-back weekends with the SFP 250 this Friday night at Kansas Speedway and next weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

FF-CWTS-KSFor Blaney, It will be a full weekend in Kansas as the 20-year-old driver is racing in both Friday night’s SFP 250 and Saturday night’s 5-hour Energy 400. It is the Sprint Cup Series début for Blaney, driving the No. 12 Ford for Team Penske on Saturday.

The race could also give Blaney a chance to compete against his father Dave, which would make them the first father-son duo to compete in the same Sprint Cup Series event since Bobby Hamilton Sr and Jr raced at Atlanta on October 30, 2005. Both Blaneys raced against one another last season in the historic truck race at Eldora Speedway.  Continue reading →

After testing at the 1.5-mile Charlotte Motor Speedway last week, Jeb Burton heads to another 1.5-mile track – Kansas Speedway – in two weeks with a focus to turn his season around.

The 2014 season has not been what Burton expected after changing teams, but all that may change at Kansas. Last season Burton won his only truck series win on another 1.5-mile track (Texas) and Kansas is the first race this season on a track of the same size.  Continue reading →

Drivers Remain Busy During Break

Though the next race for the Camping World Truck Series isn’t until May 9th at Kansas Speedway, many series regulars are competing on track this week.

Fast Facts CWTSMore than a dozen teams spent Monday and Tuesday at Charlotte Motor Speedway testing for their upcoming race on Friday, May 16th. Teams tested from 1 to 9 pm each day to prepare for the fourth race on the 2014 schedule. This session will give competitors extended track time as they prepare to compete on a 1.5-mile track for the first time this season with the new truck body designs.

Timothy Peters and Jeb Burton are also competing in the Denny Hamlin Short Track Showdown Thursday night, April 24th at South Boston Speedway. Both Peters and Burton have won many times at the track in late-model stock cars. Continue reading →
