With six different Sprint Cup Series winners in the first six races for the season, the question now is, will there be a seventh different winner at Texas Motor Speedway?

Kurt Busch set a Chase for the Sprint Cup era record the moment he hit the finish line to close last Sunday’s race at Martinsville Speedway – six different winners in the first six races of the season. More amazing is that Matt Kenseth and Jimmie Johnson – the top two winners in the 2013 season – are not among that group.  Neither are marquee winners Kasey Kahne or Greg Biffle or Jeff Gordon or Denny Hamlin. Throwback Thursday – Elliott Sadler Ends Winless Skid at Texas

NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series driver Elliott Sadler celebrates his win in the Samsung /RadioShack 500 at Texas Motor Speedway.

Elliott Sadler was looking to visit victory lane again in the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series. 2004 was his second year working with his No. 38 Robert Yates Racing team.

Sadler grabbed his lone Cup victory with the Wood Brothers at Bristol Motor Speedway in March 2001.

He and the No. 38 team were looking for more in 2004.

2000 Cup champ Bobby Labonte won the pole for the race with a surprising driver coming in second. It was Bill Elliott, who scaled down to a part-time ride for Evernham Motorsports.

Elliott wrestled the lead from Labonte and led the first 19 laps.          Continue reading

Jeff Gordon’s No. 24 is adding Texas A&M University to list of Collegiate paint schemes in NASCAR’s Sprint Cup Series

On April 6, 2014 at Texas Motor Speedway four-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion, Jeff Gordon’s No. 24 Chevrolet is featuring a Texas A&M University paint scheme. On Thursday, there is an unveiling of Gordon’s No. 24 collegiate paint scheme at Texas A&M campus.  Continue reading
