Joey Logano Triumphs in Scintillating NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race at Charlotte

At the end of a wild and crazy Saturday night at Charlotte Motor Speedway, Joey Logano got the upper hand in an intense battle with last-chance qualifier Kyle Larson and took home the million-dollar prize as the winner of the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race.

Trying to block the stronger car of Logano in the closing 13-lap last segment of the race, Larson buried his car into turn one as Logano edged ahead. Larson’s No. 42 Chevrolet got loose and sailed up the track into the outside wall with less than two laps left. Continue reading

Five Drivers Advance to Sprint All-Star Race at Charlotte Motor Speedway

Roush Fenway Racing showing they are here to compete won the first two segments in Saturday’s Sprint Showdown at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Saturday. Trevor Bayne and Greg Biffle swept the first two segments advancing into tonight’s Sprint All-Star Race and keeping Roush Fenway’s streak of now 27 consecutive All-Star starts.

On a late restart, Bayne was fourth and took the lead with his No. 6 passing the No. 24 car by only five-thousands-of-a-second at the finish line. Continue reading

Preview of NASCAR Sprint All Star Race at Charlotte Motor Speedway

The annual Sprint All-Star Race is on Saturday, May 21st at Charlotte Motor Speedway with FOX Sports 1 broadcasting their pre-race show at 8:30 pm ET and the green flag set to wave around 8:30 pm ET. Radio coverage is on PRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, channel 90. 

Due to inclement weather, both the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and Sprint Showdown  events will now take place on Saturday, May 21st at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

The Sprint Showdown will begin at 11 am ET with Chase Elliott leading the field to green with the lineup set by Sprint Cup Series owner points. The green flag for the Camping World Truck Series, North Carolina Education Lottery 200 will drop at 12:30 pm ET with William Byron on the pole after setting field from speeds in Thursday’s practice session. Television coverage for both events is on FOX Sports 1 with radio coverage on PRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, channel 90.

Friday tickets are good for Saturday’s Sprint Showdown and North Carolina Education Lottery 200; Fans who wish to stay for Saturday night’s Sprint All-Star Race activities can buy those tickets at the ticket office or any ticket gate.

Changes to NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race Format

The 31st NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race will take place on Saturday at Charlotte Motor Speedway. 

This season, the event will last 113 laps total. Drivers will run two 50-lap segments with mandatory green-flag pit stops. After the segments, the event will culminate in a 13-lap dash to the $1 million prize. Continue reading

NASCAR Sprint Showdown Set to Advance Three Drivers to All-Star Race at Charlotte

Friday’s Sprint Showdown at Charlotte Motor Speedway will advance three drivers to the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race. The winner of each segment will earn a spot in Saturday’s night’s contest.

Below is the detailed format for the Sprint Showdown:

  • Segment 1 (20 laps): Field set by practice speed, winner advances to NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race and does not continue in Showdown;
  • Segment 2 (20 laps): Field set by pit-road order after mandatory minimum two-tire pit stop, winner advances to NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race and does not continue in Showdown;
  • Segment 3 (ten laps): Field set by pit-road order after mandatory minimum two-tire pit stop, winner advances to NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race and NASCAR Overtime rules apply.

NASCAR Camping World Truck Series teams are back in action for 134 laps totalling 201 miles in the North Carolina Education Lottery 200 on Friday, May 20th at Charlotte Motor Speedway. FOX Sports 1 will begin their pre-race coverage at 8 pm ET with a green flag around 8:30 pm ET.  Preceding this race is the Sprint Showdown also on FOX Sports one starting at 7 pm ET.
