Dillon Closing In On Sought-After Points Lead
Edging out one of the most competitive fields of the year, Ty Dillon posted his first career NASCAR Nationwide Series win at the historic 2.5-mile Indianapolis Motor Speedway. In doing so, he claimed Nationwide Insurance’s $100,000 Dash 4 Cash check, also closing the gap of -15 between he and the points leader, Chase Elliott. Ty Dillon held off a charging Kyle Busch in the closing laps of the Lilly Diabetes 250 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, but he had to win the first NASCAR Nationwide Series race of his career with a fuel cell approaching empty.
Dillon grabbed the lead from Busch, the pole winner, moments after a restart on lap 77 of 100. He soon opened a lead of one second over the most prolific winner in series history, but it wasn’t without some pinpoint calculations from crew chief Danny Stockman. Continue reading →
Get The Dirt On Eldora
From asphalt to dirt, the Camping World Truck Series transitions to the high-banked clay oval of Eldora Speedway on July 23 for the second consecutive season. The only dirt track on the schedule, Eldora will challenge even the most seasoned of veterans as it remains unique to the truck series among national series schedules.
Eldora is the only race to award the winner a golden shovel that helps to carry on the “ceremonial digging” tradition instituted at the inaugural event, when the race winner scoops dirt from the track as a keepsake. The ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards heads to the Chicagoland Speedway for the 14th straight year this weekend.
