Dominant Chandler Smith takes Fourth Consecutive ARCA Menards Series Short Track Win in Fans with Benefits 150 at Iowa Speedway

After leading the afternoon’s practice session and winning the General Tire Pole Award, Chandler Smith (No. 20 Craftsman/828 Logistics Toyota) put a period on a clean sweep of the ARCA Menards Series Fans with Benefits 150 with a dominant victory Friday night at Iowa Speedway. Smith led the first 106 laps before losing the lead on pit road during the penultimate caution flag of the night. Once back under green, it took him just ten laps to knife his way through the field to retake the lead from Ty Gibbs (No. 18 Monster Energy/ORCA Coolers/Terrible Herbst/Advance Auto Parts Toyota) to lead the final 35 laps.

Cathy Venturini a Trailblazer at Venturini Motorsports, ARCA, and in Support of Women in Racing.

Today there are several women competitors in the sport of racing, but few that are making their way to the upper ranks of NASCAR. Hailie Deegan is making waves winning and working her way through the NASCAR K&N Pro Series with Bill McAnally Racing and in the ARCA Menards Series with Venturini Motorsports. And although she faces resistance in the midst of her success, many feel she is the future of the sport and destined to stardom. For her path to the upper ranks, Deegan has chosen teams that are trailblazers with a lot of success in their respective areas. What stands apart though is Cathy Venturini with Venturini Motorsports, who in the 80s made her own waves to pave the way for women looking to break into a male-dominated sport while also facing resistance to success and her presence. Some may not even know her story and the important role she’s played not only within the family-owned team but how she’s opened the door for other women to take part and find success in the sport.

Venturini Motorsports may not own Chicagoland Speedway, but they have a lease with the option to buy after earning the pole for Thursday night’s ARCA Mendards Series Bounty 150. Michael Self will start at the top spot in his No. 25 Sinclair Lubricants Toyota Camry as he looks to earn back-to-back wins in the event. Teammate Harrison Burton in the No. 20 Venturini Motorsports car qualified fifth.

Ty Majeski Fastest at Chicagoland Speedway with Hometown Team in the Mix

At the top of the ARCA Menards Series, practice speed chart at Chicagoland Speedway is Chad Bryant Racing’s No. 22 with Ty Majeski’s right foot pushing him to a lap of 30.52, equaling a speed of 176.933. Teammate Joe Graf Jr in the No. 77 clocked in 20th but that was after the team thrashed to get the backup car out on the track just in time to turn a lap and be eligible for qualifying coming up at 5:35 pm ET
