The No. 5s GALT, Wauters Motorsports team headed west with Dalton Sargeant to Bakersfield, California for the inaugural Winter Showdown from Kern County Raceway and finished in the second position.  The 16-year-old shocked the short track racing community once again by competing like a veteran, but ultimately finishing a mere five-car lengths short of the eventual winner, veteran Bubba Pollard in the 250-lap event.  The second-place finish was Sargeant’s third runner-up finishing position in four events. South Carolina Driver Wins First NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Crown

Anthony Anders was sitting with friends in the grandstands off turn four at historic Greenville Pickens Speedway when he got the itch to give this racing thing a try. Twenty years later, the Easley, South Carolina, driver has reached the pinnacle of short-track racing.

Anders is the 2014 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series championship.

The 43-year-old Anders accomplished the feat by leading the national points standings every week of the season and finishing with 30 wins, ninth most in a single season in the history of the series.  Continue reading
