Allmendinger Cruises to Victory at NNS’ Debut Mid-Ohio Road Course

Saturday’s race was a début for the series at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course and NASCAR fans were ready in the Buckeye State.  Track management said the turnout Saturday was the best for the track so far this season.

AJ Allmendinger spent most of Saturday afternoon in front, then held on for an extra few laps to earn his second career NASCAR Nationwide Series victory in the Nationwide Children’s Hospital 200 at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. Continue reading

A late race turn of events led James Buescher to victory lane Saturday afternoon at Michigan. With four laps to go, Kyle Busch had the lead, but when he slipped up the track, Buescher cruised through to the lead. Michigan has been known to play naughty and nice. In June, Hendrick Motorsports was on the track’s good side until disaster started to strike toward the end of the race. They went from dominating to having a day to forget in a matter of laps. That was an example of how this two-miler can come out and bite. Who’ll be the victim of Michigan’s destruction this weekend? Nationwide Children’s Hospital 200 Preview

Nationwide Series drivers début their first 203.22 mile, 90 lap race at Mid-Ohio on Saturday, August 17th with a green flag at 2:30pm ET. The Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course is the series’ second road course event in two weeks and television coverage begins at 2pm on ESPN with radio coverage on MRN and Sirius XM channel 90. 

Only 12 race events remain before a new NASCAR Nationwide Series Champion is known and predicting the outcome is becoming more difficult with every passing weekend. After Saturday’s race at Watkins Glen, only 74-points separate the top-ten drivers in the point standings. Tenth-place Parker Kligerman could theoretically make up the difference in only two races, although that’s not likely.  Continue reading
