Penske’s Pay Day: Logano Wins, Hornish Tops the Standings

What more could Penske Racing want? A one-two finish with their drivers, with a win and the point standings lead. That is a very successful day for the organization as they leave Chicagoland Speedway with their heads held high.

When Joey Logano could be relaxing on the beach, he was pulling into victory lane for the second time in the Nationwide Series this season. Just about every other Cup driver took the week off, but Logano was hard at work trying to boost Penske’s No.22 owner championship chances. Well, it was worth skipping a week of vacation to pull into victory lane instead and that’s exactly what Joey Logano did Sunday afternoon at the Chicagoland Speedway. Continue reading →

Morgan Lucas Taking on 2013 with a New Perspective

This year has brought some big changes for Morgan Lucas, driver of the GEICO/Lucas Oil Top Fuel dragster.

Lucas got married in the off-season and is taking a more active role in the operations of Morgan Lucas Racing in 2013.

“My whole outlook on life has shifted,” Lucas said. “My purpose for being competitive used to solely be on having fun and racing. While I still love racing, I want to win because I do have a family, I want to be a good provider, and I want the business side of the race team to be successful.

“There are a lot of things that go into you wanting to be the best you possibly can be. It’s a new kind of pressure to be under, but if you channel it the right way, pressure can be a great motivator.” Continue reading →

It will be their time to shine. The Nationwide Series has a rare stand alone weekend at the Chicagoland Speedway this weekend, allowing some of the series’ best to take the spotlight. A few Sprint Cup drivers will also be in the field, but for the most part, it will be the Nationwide Series’ best going for the victory. After three wild green-white-checker finishes at New Hampshire, some drivers need to make up lost ground and this weekend’s race is a perfect opportunity. Continue reading →
