The deck lid of the No. 3 Richard Childress Racing Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series entry was confiscated by officials at Talladega Superspeedway when it was found out of compliance with the NASCAR Rule Book before the qualifying session. Although Austin Dillon and his team rallied to earn the pole during qualifying at Talladega, on Wednesday, after NASCAR’s inspection process at the R&D Center this week, NASCAR announced penalties for the RCR team.

Team owner Richard Childress Racing received an L1-level penalty with the team docked ten points in both the driver and owner standings. Crew chief Danny Stockman is fined $25,000, and car chief Gregory Ebert is suspended from the next Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race, which is slated for Dover International Speedway this weekend.

RCR is electing not to appeal the decision, so Ebert will not be at the track this weekend.
