Fan4Racing writer, Bryan Law’s commentary on the Tony Stewart incident at the Chili Bowl Nationals this past weekend. Read Fan4Racing and another Fan4Racing writer – Joe Lewis’ commentary as well. 

Here was hoping that the 2016 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season would start positive. Kyle Busch defending his newly won Sprint Cup Championship, Chase Elliott now the replacement for Jeff Gordon. Even looking forward to Brian Scott and XFINITY Series Champion Chris Buescher  succeeding at the top-level. Plus Clint Bowyer racing for one season for HScott Motorsports, as he is the driver in waiting to take the seat of a Stewart-Haas Racing driver who once again was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Brian Vickers: The Forgotten Michael Waltrip Racing Driver

Since Michael Waltrip Racing announced they were closing their doors back in August, we knew a lot of crew members and other employees would be out of work once the season ended. The organization allowed drivers Clint Bowyer and David Ragan to find rides elsewhere even during the season. So far, Bowyer has signed a one-year deal with HScott Motorsports in 2016 while being the replacement driver in waiting for Tony Stewart in 2017. As of now, Ragan is still looking for a new ride. Pocono Raceway Steps Up On Safety

Pocono Raceway has recently installed longer walls along pit road after Kasey Kahne and Jeb Burton spun out in the exact location off turn three and on pit road during practice and the start of the Windows 10 400 back in late August. Both Burton and Kahne had hit nearly the same area in consecutive days. It was Kahne who had the bigger hit when he not only hit the pit road wall, he also sent helmets and other equipment flying. As Tennessee faces Virginia Tech at Bristol Motor Speedway on September 10 later this season, it could be one of the biggest games ever participated in by the SEC, if not all of college football. Estimated to fill ‘The Last Great Colosseum’ all the way to the full capacity of 160,000, if not more, it will go down as the largest college football game in history. Just a couple of years before, there was talk of Florida possibly playing a game at Daytona International Speedway after finishing their renovation project.

Believe it or not, Daytona had hosted four college football games before, all by Bethune-Cookman during the 1974 and 1975 season. There hasn’t been a college game at Daytona since then. Even with the downsizing to 101,000 seats, it would still be huge for the super speedway to host a football game once again. Daytona could host Miami, Florida or Florida State in any season. Who knows, down the road they could host their own bowl game. Of course, we’ll leave the bowl naming for the later possibility.
