It will be their time to shine. The Nationwide Series has a rare stand alone weekend at the Chicagoland Speedway this weekend, allowing some of the series’ best to take the spotlight. A few Sprint Cup drivers will also be in the field, but for the most part, it will be the Nationwide Series’ best going for the victory. After three wild green-white-checker finishes at New Hampshire, some drivers need to make up lost ground and this weekend’s race is a perfect opportunity. Continue reading →

Going All-Access with the MWR Girls

For example, Sunday at the track was drastically better than I was expecting when one tweet changed my day that morning. That was the tweet that gave me some unprecedented access to the garage area during the pre-race hours. It has inspired me to write and its inspiring me to write this right now. Because, it’s so true. Practice makes perfect.

Currently in the internship I’m doing, we’re basically on an off few weeks so our job is to keep practicing. Practice recaps, interviews, and writing in general. For me, that’s not a real assignment since that’s what I do every week anyways. Continue reading →

I really didn’t expect anything more than that, but what I ultimately left the track with, were memories that would last a lifetime. Jason’s Journey: Seeing Myself in the Future

JasonJourneylogo400x300The magical tour I took of the Charlotte Motor Speedway a few weeks ago still has lasting memories.  I was so inspired by the media center, that I want to write about it this week.

It was vast and wide with empty desks and chairs that will be filled by some of the best in the NASCAR media, come race weekend. There I was walking down the aisle, seeing the computer plug-ins and the interview desk. Thinking that I could be here in five years from now, writing, talking, and living my dream. Continue reading →
