Second Daytona Win Gives Johnson Legendary Status
No one has done it since 1982; that is until this past weekend. Sweeping both Daytona races in the same season, Jimmie Johnson broke a 30-year dry spell Saturday night with his win in the Coke Zero 400. Johnson was up front all night and held off his competitors each time they challenged him for the lead. The race was classic Daytona with carnage and nail-biting racing throughout the evening. Restrictor-plate racing doesn’t get any better and this race proved Daytona night racing is fun to watch.
Lap 32 was when Johnson found the front for the first time of the night and he wouldn’t be away from that spot for much more of the race. Continue reading
Mellow Nationwide Race Goes to Kenseth at Daytona
Friday night’s Nationwide Series race at Daytona wasn’t a typical Daytona race. Four cautions throughout the event left very few cars off the track. Restrictor plate ace Matt Kenseth navigated his way to the front toward the closing laps and a nice draft from Truck Series regular James Buescher propelled Kenseth to his first Nationwide victory with Joe Gibbs Racing. Daytona’s high banks are legendary as history is worn into them along with memories that last a lifetime. Twice a year when NASCAR rolls in, more skid marks are added, indicating the wildness occurring in the race. More of the crazy Daytona racing that fans adore is returning on Saturday night. The July race is always special and year after year, the excitement is still prevalent. Could more history be engraved this weekend? Anything could happen, so everyone will be watching. Charlotte Motor Speedway: A Clash of Tradition and History Make Up This Gem
There are 23 different tracks on the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series circuit. Throughout a 36 race season, most fans watch the races at different tracks on their televisions. Many dreaming of going to the track and seeing the monstrous venue for themselves. Certain tracks have a uniqueness that makes fans want to go take in the sights that particular track beholds.
