Chip Ganassi Racing has been waiting a long time for 2014. The team will be introducing their young-superstar in Kyle Larson to the Sprint Cup Series. Larson is a very talented driver which is why CGR has put so much emphasis on this California kid. His rookie season is going to say a lot about this team since they may have picked up the next NASCAR great. Could Daytona be the start of a return to glory for CGR? The close of last season, led to the end of a chapter at Richard Childress Racing. Their top driver for over a decade in Kevin Harvick was moving on. Following Dale Earnhardt’s death, Harvick was the face of RCR. Now that the face of the organization has left, it is time for a new beginning. Looking back on 2013, NASCAR had a remarkable year. From storylines galore to scandals that challenged the sport’s credibility, NASCAR never stayed quiet. Going into the year, there were many more questions than answers. Fans wondered what was to come from all the ‘newness’ the sport was expecting which included the Gen 6 car and drivers in new rides. Whatever went into this season, it made for one exciting year. The lesson learned throughout 2013 was to expect the unexpected because the year in NASCAR featured truly unexpected events. A forgettable 2013 season for Denny Hamlin ended on a high note Sunday afternoon at Homestead-Miami. Despite dismal performances throughout the year, Hamlin was able to bring a little light to his season with a win.  This victory will continue Hamlin’s streak of seven straight seasons with at least one win. Momentum going into the off-season may not add up to anything soon, but it could allow the No.11 to shine once 2014 gets underway. Continue reading →
