Keselowski Holds Off Jones and Busch for XFINITY Win at Kentucky

Brad Keselowski held of Erik Jones and a charging Kyle Busch after a restart with 31 laps left and collected his first NASCAR XFINITY Series victory of the season in Friday night’s Kentucky 300 at Kentucky Speedway.

A late two-tire call put Keselowski in front for a restart on lap 170, and though the No. 22 Team Penske Ford ceded the lead to Jones for 22 circuits, Keselowski regained the top spot with a daring move to the inside through traffic entering the tri-oval on lap 92 and held on to win by less than a quarter-second. Bluegrass State Welcomes New Winner

On tap for Friday’s UNOH 225 at Kentucky Speedway is a guaranteed new winner in Victory Lane as no currently active driver has taken a checkered flag in the Bluegrass State. Among the top contenders at Kentucky are series wins leader Matt Crafton, as well as the drivers from Kyle Busch Motorsports. Crafton has won three of the four races on 1.5-mile tracks this season, while Kyle Busch Motorsports has celebrated in Victory Lane twice at Kentucky, including last year following Kyle Busch’s triumph. Long before Kentucky Speedway, there was Corbin Speedway. Corbin, a small town 150 miles south of Sparta – home of Kentucky Speedway – is best known as the home of Colonel Harlan Sanders and the birthplace of his Kentucky Fried Chicken.  Not as well-known is that it hosted Kentucky’s only NASCAR Sprint Cup race in the series’ first 60 years. Coverage starts with the pre-race show at 7 p.m. ET and the race broadcast begins at 7:45 p.m. ET.
