Harvick Holds Off Edwards at Phoenix—by a Matter of Inches

In recent years, Kevin Harvick has exercised his dominance at Phoenix International Raceway by crushing the competition.

In Sunday’s Good Sam 500 at the one-mile track in the Sonoran Desert, he maintained his mastery by a matter of inches, banging fenders with Carl Edwards in a side-by side overtime battle on the way to the finish line.

After the drivers traded shots on the way to the stripe, Harvick pulled ahead to win the fourth NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race of the season by 0.010 seconds (roughly four inches), the identical margin by which Denny Hamlin had beaten Martin Truex Jr. in the season-opening Daytona 500. NASCAR K&N East Points Leader Decision at Mobile International Speedway

NASCAR K&N Pro Series East drivers are anxious to decide their points leader after K&N West driver, Todd Gilliland won their season opener at New Smyrna in February. Their wait is over with the Mobile 200 starting today at 3 pm ET at Mobile International Speedway.

Several contenders are ready to show their talent behind the wheel with hopes of taking over the points lead when the checkered flag waves today.

Spencer Davis heads into Mobile as the K&N East leader in the series standings. The rookie is overcoming a destroyed car after getting into an accident during the extra lap at New Smyrna. Despite those unfortunate circumstances, the 17-year-old Dawsonville, Georgia, native persevered and finished runner-up and the top K&N East driver. Continue reading
