Harsh Words from Ryan Sieg toward Ryan Reed following Pocono Garage Altercation

An on-going track feud between drivers Ryan Reed and Ryan Sieg escalated Saturday afternoon at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway when a red flag for rain halted the NASCAR XFINITY Series debut at the 2.5-mile triangle just past the halfway point.

Tension between the two drivers from last weekend’s race at Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway carried over to Pocono and only deepened when the two made contact on Lap 24.

The contact sent Sieg into the turn one wall and eventually to pit road where he lost two laps for repairs.

Sieg vented his frustration to the Roush Fenway Racing driver in the garage area during the rain delay which ended with expletive words, pushing and shoving. Continue reading →

Kevin Harvick To Remain At Stewart-Haas Racing With Long-Term Contract Extension

Put the rumors to rest, 2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion Kevin Harvick isn’t going anywhere.

Despite consistent chatter that Harvick was leaving Stewart-Haas Racing at the end of the 2016 Cup season, the team announced Thursday afternoon a long-term contract extension for Harvick to remain as the driver of the No. 4 car in a new multi-year agreement. The length of the contract was not specified.

The Bakersfield, California native joined SHR after a lengthy stint at Richard Childress Racing in 2014 and his impact with the organization was not influential but immediate. In his first season driving the No. 4 Stewart-Haas Racing Chevrolet, Harvick scored eight poles, won five races and led a whopping 2,137 laps en route to his first Sprint Cup championship. Brennan Poole Handles Talladega Defeat with Pure Class

Brennan Poole was the first car to the start / finish line at the conclusion of Saturday’s Sparks Energy 300 at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway, but he didn’t win.

Contact between first and second place Joey Logano and Elliott Sadler coming to the checkered flag sent the No. 22 sliding sideways across the track triggering the caution and ending the race.

While it appeared that Poole won the race, NASCAR official deemed the finish under review. Both the No. 48 and No. 1 Chevrolets sat at the start / finish line waiting for official word, it seemed like eternity before the official came declaring Sadler the victor on his Birthday. Continue reading →

XFINITY Series Points Leader Daniel Suarez Grabs Familiar Sponsor For Fontana

While a familiar partner for his Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) team, current NASCAR XFINITY Series point’s leader Daniel Suarez will represent a new sponsor in Saturday’s XFINITY 300 at Auto Club (Calif.) Speedway.

Interstate Batteries, who first established its sponsorship with JGR prior to the 1992 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season will back the Monterrey, Mexico driver in the first of two XFINITY Series races this season, CATCHFENCE.com has confirmed.

The Dallas-based company also sponsors reigning Sprint Cup champion Kyle Busch in select Cup races. They also backed Suarez’s XFINITY teammate Erik Jones two weeks ago at Las Vegas (Nev.) Motor Speedway. Other accolades during their 25-year partnership include the 1993 Daytona 500 victory by Dale Jarrett, the 2000 Sprint Cup championship with driver Bobby Labonte and multiple wins by Busch.
