Chip Ganassi To Sell Cup Team? To John Menard?

The big news out of Thursday’s test day at Texas Motor Speedway is that Chip Ganassi could be selling his Sprint Cup team to a Menard. That is John Menard, a long-time racer and supporter in the Sprint Cup Series.

It is no secret that Earnhardt Ganassi Racing has struggled in recent years. Juan Pablo Montoya’s top-ten last week at Martinsville was his first since June of last season at Michigan. Neither Jamie McMurray or JPM have battled for wins since 2010 when McMurray won the Daytona 500 and at Indianapolis. The last time an EGR team made the Chase was in 2009 with JPM. Continue reading

Jimmie Johnson celebrated his second Daytona 500 win by spinning through the grass Sunday, just like many have done before him. But he tore up his front bumper in the process of celebrating. Some have questioned if Johnson wrecked the car on purpose?

In October of 2010, Chad Knaus and Jimmie Johnson received criticism after radio communication at Talladega. Caught on pre-race video inside the car, Knaus leaned into the window of Johnson’s car and told him to damage the back of the car by hitting something during or after the race to make sure the car passed inspection.
