NASCAR today announced the 2014 schedule for the NASCAR Nationwide Series, the 33rd season of racing for the second-most popular motorsports series in the United States. Brian Vickers to Miss Remainder of 2013 Season

Michael Waltrip Racing learned today that Brian Vickers is not available to race for the rest of the 2013 NASCAR Sprint Cup season due to health issues.

Vickers said Dr. William Downey is placing him on blood thinning medication after a Monday morning examination on his right leg discovered a small blood clot in his calf region.

The medications will keep Vickers out of his No. 55 car for the rest of the season, effective immediately. Vickers says his physicians are confident he will be able to resume activity before the 2014 NASCAR season begins. Continue reading

Dedicated race fans are nothing new to NASCAR, but the diverse group headed to Charlotte Motor Speedway for this weekend’s Bank of America 500 weekend festivities may be as unique a group as any in recent memory.

Fans from 48 states and as far away as Canada, Australia and Puerto Rico will be on hand for this weekend’s Bank of America 500.
