The Sprint Cup Series continues their west coast swing this weekend at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. After a shaky first two races of the season, many teams will look for a rebound performance in “Sin City.” The Las Vegas Motor Speedway has been referred to as “Jimmie’s House” since the five-time champion always seems to run well at the track. Tony Stewart and Carl Edwards are the latest drivers to claim victory in Vegas but, anyone could come out of Vegas on-top this weekend.

The green flag for the Kobalt Tools 400 is set to wave on Sunday March 10th, 2013 at 3:16 PM EST (12:16 PM PT). The race will consist of 267 laps and 400.5 miles. The weather for race day at Las Vegas looks like great racing weather with sunny conditions and a high temperature of 69 F and a low of 45 F with a zero percent chance of rain. The race can be seen on TV on FOX and a radio broadcast of the race can be heard on PRN. Continue reading

The new crop of Nationwide Series drivers will roll into Las Vegas this weekend to compete in the Sam’s Town 300 at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. 19-year-old Tucson, AZ native, Alex Bowman competes full-time in the NASCAR Nationwide Series piloting the No. 99 Toyota Camry for RAB Racing. With two major racing series’ Rookie of the Year titles under his belt, 2011 K&N Pro Series East and 2012 ARCA Racing Series, he is currently competing for 2013 Nationwide Series Rookie of the Year.

Starting his season with a third place finish in Daytona, in Phoenix Bowman was involved in an early race incident on lap two, leaving him with a finish of 31st at his home track. Despite the disappointing finish at Phoenix, Bowman currently sits tenth in the point standings as he heads to Las Vegas, only 11 points out of the top five and 25 points behind leader Sam Hornish, Jr.

While Bowman is looking to rebound from a disappointing finish, Las Vegas Motor Speedway is a track he has yet to race. Bowman’s first lap in practice will represent his first lap at the 1.5-mile track in the desert. But don’t expect that to be a handicap for this talented driver. Continue reading
